Joy
took up guitar at 12 and began playing with local bands a year later.
Since then he's gigged with numerous groups in styles as diverse
as rock, metal, funk, Top 40, and jazz. By 16 he had a number of
students and was giving clinics in music stores. He moved from Indiana
to Boston to enroll at the Berklee College of Music, where he jammed,
recorded, and performed with many world-class players and became
an instructor at the school's Summer '90 Rock Guitar Workshop. He
graduated from Berklee's two-year program with a 3.6 GPA and immediately
headed for Hollywood in search of opportunities in music. Currently
he holds endorsements with ESP and Seymour Duncan, and he's built
up recording experience through sessions in Boston, Ann Arbor, Santa
Barbara, and other cities. Rich in melody and technique, Joy's demo
reveals a talent that belies his age. His solo work is both bluesy
and technical, revealing advanced music sensibilities and a strong
vibrato. His songs have received airplay in his native Indiana.
Currently Joy is playing with Kid Jam, a commercial hard rock band,
and is actively writing and recording original material. He hopes
to land a record contract with his band and make a solo album.
